Timothy Ruiz
Principal Designer
Art has been a passion of mine since I was a child. It gave me confidence. I taught myself how to paint, using oils, when I was in grade school and continued being involved in art throughout my middle school and high school years. After graduating, I enlisted in the Navy and attended Defense Mapping School at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, for construction drafting. While in the fleet I worked as a draftsman/illustrator onboard the USS Hunely out of Scotland. Then also for CVIC onboard the USS Ranger out of San Diego and Bremerton Washington. After I left the Navy, I continued working in my field with several engineering companies and graphic art companies around San Diego, including CSC, American Systems Engineering Corporation and Paragon Design Co.
After working several years for CSC, I went back to school to study Interior design at Mesa College in San Diego. While attending Mesa I picked up a few internships, including one at Lee Laurence, a fabric and furniture showroom, where I received some valuable hands on training. From there I landed another internship at Alpha Design Group where I eventually worked as the assistant to the principal designer, then moved up to a junior designer. From there, I went on as an independent designer under Alpha Design Group.
In 2003 I left the firm and started Pacific Interiors. Over the years we have had a lot of great clients and projects and we have established valuable relationships with builders, craftspeople and local artisans.
